Development of an intelligent comprehensive control platform for coal enterprises based on cloud-edge collaboration

Abstract
To address poor system compatibility, data silos, and the limitations of conventional centralized platform architectures arising from the coexistence of heterogeneous systems for safety monitoring, production execution, and equipment management in intelligent coal mine construction, Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Baofeng Energy) was selected as the engineering background. Following the design principles of “four unifications, two-level deployment, openness, and sharing,” a comprehensive control platform based on cloud-edge collaboration was developed. The platform adopts a two-level deployment architecture comprising the group-level cloud side and the mine-level edge side. By integrating key technologies, including hierarchical deployment based on cloud-edge collaboration, lakehouse-integrated data governance, spatiotemporal fusion analysis using a GIS-based “one map,” and edge-based intelligent sensing, the platform establishes a full-process intelligent system covering production, safety, assets, and operational management. Engineering applications demonstrate that the deployment of the platform at Baofeng Energy and its affiliated coal mines successfully established an intelligent production and operation system covering the entire industrial chain. Consequently, production efficiency and resource allocation capacity were significantly improved, with the effective equipment operation rate increasing by 12% and on-site response time decreasing by 45%. In terms of safety management, the platform enabled early hazard warning, rapid response, and closed-loop disposal, resulting in a year-on-year reduction of 40% in the accident rate. These results indicate that the proposed platform provides an effective technical framework for integrated data governance and intelligent control in coal mining enterprises.
